One sport that is underrated in the entertainment industry is wrestling. The sport is not able to garner much international fame and has often been subjected to criticism. Nonetheless, the most overlooked part of this game is that while globally it hasn't received much publicity, many of the wrestlers that participate in the sport come from foreign lands.

Many would be surprised to know that some of the best athletes that are a part of WWE come from Canada. The region has a legacy of giving rise to fighters with unmatched potential who stand out among the crowd. We have picked a few of them in this article.

"Soulman" Rocky Johnson

We assume that wrestling fans would have heard the name Rocky Johnson. He was one of the most established wrestlers and was part of the *WWE Hall of Fame*. The fighter resided in America due to his sports career, but his place of birth was Canada. This sports personality was associated with some of the well-known fighting leagues in the industry.

Rocky has received several accolades and won the Georgia Heavyweight Championship and NWA Television Championship throughout his sporting career. Unfortunately, this iconic athlete is not among us anymore. Still, he has passed on his legacy to his son Dwayne Rock Johnson.

Owen Hart

Owen Hart is one of the few wrestlers who gave stellar performances in the ring. The man held titles like the *Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion, European Champion*, and *Tag-Team Champion*. Unfortunately, his wrestling career ended prematurely due to a fatal mishap in the ring. Nonetheless, we believe if this sports personality had lived, he would have stood tall among influential athletes today.

Interestingly, while in the field, Owen ruled the wrestling world for years, and his popularity among viewers continued to rise until his passing. There are no doubts that this athlete had a bright future in the industry, but did you know wrestling was not Owen's first choice?

Edge

Adam Joseph Copeland, or as he is popularly known as Edge, is one of the promising Canadian origin professional wrestlers. He made his debut in the industry at 19, and then there was no looking back for him. During the early years of his career, Edge became the most sought-after player until an injury in 2011 paused his career.

Apart from being successful as a sportsman, Edge has ventured into the world of glamour. His acting skills have also helped him pocket a few accolades. Nonetheless, the athlete's true calling is being in the ring, and he turned back to wrestling in 2020 after nine years of recovery.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho may have been born in the United States, but he has lived most of his life in Canada and is also a citizen of the country. The man has to be on this list mainly for defeating a legend like Steve Austin. In the early 90s, he was part of organizations like *Extreme Championship Wrestling* and *World Championship Wrestling*.

Including the many victories that Chris has scored, he has remained a six-time world wrestling champion. It isn't in sports that this athlete has made a name for himself, but he is a well-known singer and the lead vocalist in the band Fozzy. Nonetheless, he is better suited to throwing punches in the ring.
